  • The Tallis Scholars
Peter Phillips

Opening the 2013/14 season on his actual birthday, Peter Phillips is delighted to be hosting a programme of his favourite works, culled from 40 years at the helm of The Tallis Scholars. Peter introduces and explains his choice from the stage, but the crowning glory is surely Tallis’ Gaude gloriosa, a work of famed length and complexity, a colossal architectural construction. By the final pages, which peak on the highest note in the entire Tudor repertoire, listeners (and singers) feel as if they have just completed the journey of a lifetime. The preceding remainder of the programme builds up to this masterpiece at the highest level.
