Bach’s rarely heard Easter Oratorio forms the climax of a celebration of the composer’s choral and orchestral genius. His glorious first orchestral suite punctuates two settings of the joyful text ‘Sing unto the Lord a new song’ – a festive cantata accompanied by orchestra, and the dazzling motet for unaccompanied double choir.

Pegasus is one of London’s leading chamber choirs, with a repertoire embracing sacred and secular music from the Renaissance to the present day. Under its director, Matthew Altham, Pegasus has performed with leading instrumental ensembles, vocal soloists and conductors, as well as with the ballet dancer Carlos Acosta. The choir was a semi-finalist in the BBC Choir of the Year Competition in 2005 and competed in BBC 1’s Last Choir Standing. Pegasus has also achieved recognition in international choral competitions in Spain and Italy, and has appeared on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM and Channel 4.

Linden Baroque Orchestra is an ensemble of advanced students, young professionals and experienced players with a passion for early music. Its music director is harpsichordist Steven Devine. The orchestra performs on original 18th-century instruments and modern copies, some made by the players themselves. Linden Baroque has performed at venues from Norfolk to Rome, where it gave the first performances there of Purcell’s King Arthur. Its CD of music by J.F. Fasch on the Meridian label was well received and has been played on Radio 3 and Classic FM.
